PTI The labour ministry has implemented a decision of retirement fund body EPFO s trustees to hike the maximum sum assured payable under the Employees Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme, 1976 to Rs 7 lakh from the existing Rs 6 lakh. The Employees Provident Fund Organisation s (EPFO) Central Board of Trustees (CBT), headed by Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar, had decided to hike the maximum sum assured under the EDLI scheme to Rs 7 lakh at its virtual meeting held on September 9, 2020.

Labour ministry sets up control rooms to address migrant workers woes SECTIONS Share Synopsis The Centre, through these control rooms, coordinate with various state governments to solve worker related problems from across India. “Lakhs of workers used this facility last year and got their grievances resolved,” the ministry said. The labour ministry has re-started the nationwide control rooms, set up last year, to address the grievances of workers and mitigate their problems as more and more migrant workers are heading back home after complete and partial lockdowns in different states. “In view of the resurgence of COVID-19 and subsequent imposition of certain restrictions by state governments, the ministry has rejuvenated the 20 control rooms set up in April 2020 to address wage related grievances of workers employed in the central sphere and to mitigate the problems of migrant workers,” the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Govt to complete 5 surveys in 7 months on jobs: Labour Bureau DG SECTIONS Last Updated: Apr 11, 2021, 09:57 AM IST Share Synopsis These surveys will provide an extensive data of all the professionals, migrant labourers as well as those who are working in unorganised sectors and employment opportunities being generated in unorgranised sector which will help the government in framing new policy on employment, Labour Bureau Director General (DG) D.P.S. Negi said. PTI The Labour and Employment Ministry will prepare a report based on these surveys, following which the government is expected to roll out a new employment policy. The Union government is conducting five different types of surveys through which it aims to collect the data of all migrant workers, maids, professionals, etc. The Labour Bureau of the Ministry of Labour and Employment has been designated to complete these surveys in seven months.
