ISLAMABAD: Although around five per cent of Pakistan’s total and 10pc of its eligible population has got at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, the country is still one of the low-ranked countries where pace of vaccination remains very slow.
The data of federating units show that 35pc of eligible people have been vaccinated in Islamabad but only 3pc people opted for vaccination in Balochistan. In Sindh and Punjab, around 10pc people have received at least one shot.

Pakistan on Tuesday reported the lowest number of fresh cases Since October 25, 2020, as 735 people contracted the infection, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).
The country reported the lowest coronavirus cases in a single day since October 25, when 707 new cases of the infection were reported in a single day. Twenty-three people passed away from the infection on Tuesday, as per the NCOC, while the positivity rate stands at 1.78%.
Pakistan conducted a total 41,133 tests across the country on Monday, said the NCOC. The total caseload of the country has increased 956,392 while there are 32,153 active cases of infection in Pakistan. Deaths across Pakistan from coronavirus have increased to 22,254 while the total recoveries have risen to 901,985, as per the NCOC.

ISLAMABAD: While the number of active cases of coronavirus has dropped from over 55,000 to 32,153 within a month, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Tuesday expressed concern over the rising positivity rate in Gilgit-Baltistan and the Ministry of National Health Services issued a guideline for animal markets in view of upcoming Eidul Azha.
Animal vendors without evidence of vaccination may not be allowed to conduct business in the markets, according to the guideline.
As three million more doses of Covid-19 vaccine arrived here from China, the NCOC, responding to the criticism that the government has been relying largely on donated vaccines, claimed that over 17 million of the 21.13 million doses of different types of vaccines had been purchased and the latest consignment was part of the procurement plan for June.

LAHORE: More than 450 Indian nationals, who were stranded in Pakistan due to the closure of borders owing to the spread of Covid-19, returned home through the Wagah border on Monday.
The Indian nationals were stranded in various parts of Pakistan due to Covid-19 restrictions as Pakistan had suspended travel to and from India in March 2020 following the outbreak of the virus. But batches of nationals of both countries have been repatriated occasionally under special arrangements since then.
