KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 9): The Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities (MPIC) plans to open a Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) office in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to expand the country s palm oil market to Africa and the Middle East.
Its Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali said the MPOC office in Jeddah will be a marketing hub in Africa and the Middle East after receiving new requests from Kenya, Ethiopia and the Middle East. I have had discussions with the Saudi Arabian embassy earlier.as such, we need to campaign to spread the benefits and advantages of Malaysian palm oil so that all parties can know the quality of our premium palm oil, he said at the Ruang Bicara programme on Bernama TV themed Sawit Anugerah Tuhan (Palm Oil is God’s Gift) today.

KULAI: The Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities (KPPK) is making efforts to boost the country’s pepper production following a rise in demand at both local and international levels.

pix) said that although pepper production is currently led by Sarawak, the crop cultivation could be further expanded in Johor, before moving to other states.
As such, he has instructed the Malaysian Pepper Board (MPB) to set a target to restore Johor’s former glory as the centre of pepper cultivation in Malaysia
“It is possible to further expand production in Johor because if we look at Vietnam, pepper is being cultivated on a large-scale and the country is the world’s leading producer,“ he said after visiting a pepper farm pilot project involving a 2.3- hectare area in Felda Inas Utara here.

PUTRAJAYA (BERNAMA) – Malaysia will discuss with Indonesia to formulate the best strategy to protect the oil palm industry of both countries in the near future, said Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali.
He said this was in line with Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s call for the framework of the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) to be strengthened to protect the common interests of member countries, particularly Malaysia and Indonesia.
“I will discuss with my Indonesian counterpart, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, to formulate the best strategy to protect the oil palm industry of both countries in the near future,” he said in a statement yesterday.

KUALA LUMPUR: The crude palm oil (CPO) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives is likely to undergo technical correction next week with pessimistic exports outlook.
Interband Group of Companies senior palm oil trader Jim Teh said prices would likely hover between RM3,200 and RM3,300 per tonne in the coming week. The demand will also be slower, given the upcoming Chinese New Year holiday next month,” he told Bernama.
According to cargo surveyor Societe Generale de Surveillance, Malaysian palm oil products exports for the Jan 1-20 period dropped 43.3 per cent to 572,910 tonnes from 1,010,653 tonnes shipped for Dec 1-20.
Meanwhile, data from another cargo surveyor, Intertek Testing Services also showed that exports of the country’s palm oil products for Jan 1-20 fell 43.1 per cent to 607,900 tonnes from 1,067,670 tonnes for Dec 1-20.
