Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], December 14 (ANI): Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA and Asansol Municipal Corporation Chairman, Jitendra Tiwari has written to Municipal Affairs MinisterFirhad Hakim stating, State Government has blocked central funds towards Asansol for the smart city project, depriving it of development.
Tiwari has further requested Municipal Affairs Minister to allow Asansol Municipal Corporation to get benefits being provided by Central Government or State Government provide equivalent funds for the development of the city. Dec 14, Colombo: Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa Monday instructed the Urban Development Authority to immediately commence the construction of 7500 houses for the people living in low-income settlements and middle class. The Prime Minister gave this instruction at a discussion held at Temple Trees today with the officials of the Urban Development Authority regarding its projects.
Accordingly, the Urban Development Authority has agreed to commence the relevant housing project before the end of this month.
Of the 7,500 new homes, 4,000 will be built to resettle people living in low-income settlements, and the remaining 3,000 will be reserved for the middle class.

Two cryptocurrency firms filed applications this week with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to become federally regulated banks in the U.S. The first, BitPay, a bitcoin payments company, submitted an application for the BitPay National Trust Bank, to be headquartered in Georgia. The second application was submitted by Paxos, a stablecoin issuer and cryptocurrency services firm, for the Paxos National Trust. As a next step in the process, each application will undergo a 30-day comment period.
In the U.K., two major financial services providers have announced plans to launch an institutional-grade custody solution for cryptocurrencies, called Zodia Custody. According to a press release, Zodia would allow institutions to invest in cryptocurrency assets, including transaction and settlement activities.

KABUL - Lawmakers in the Wolesi Jirga, Afghanistan’s lower house of parliament, on Thursday blasted the Operation and Support Office of the President for National Development for not providing information regarding its budget and financial transactions to the lawmakers in the parliament. The proposed budgetary allocation for the office is 13 billion Afs. MPs said that the OSOPND was seen giving the development projects to certain companies without undertaking a proper bidding process. But OSOPND responded that it is ready to answer the MPs. “The projects that are carried out by the Operation and Support Office of the President for National Development are mostly carried out from a single source and other companies are not allowed to participate,” said Irfanullah Irfan, an MP.
