Two South Korea-funded power projects, made with the cooperation of the United Nation’s Development Program (UNDP) in the Dara-e-Noor district of eastern Nangarhar province will generate electricity for local villages. One of the projects will allow residents to
buy electricity for their homes by using prepaid cards.
The two projects were sponsored by South Korea, which provided $4 million for both a solar power project with the capacity of generating 340 kilowatts of power and a hydropower project with the capacity of producing 140 kilowatts.
According to officials, one of these projects offers a new system for the first time in the country in which residents of the district can top-up electricity by using prepaid credit cards.

The speaker of Afghanistan’s parliament Mir Rahman Rahmani on Wednesday said that the transfer of authorities from some government institutions to the Administrative Office of the President (AOP) is against the law.
“The authorities of several ministries have been transferred to the Administrative Office of the President, it is totally against the law and needs to be prevented,” said parliament speaker Mir Rahman Rahmani.
“The AOP has changed into the office of the prime minister, the interventions by the executive bodies inside the system need an oversight by the parliament,” said MP Arif Rahmani.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G), a flagship programme of the Government of India, 92% target of completion has been achieved in the 1st phase of the scheme i.e. from 2016-17 to 2018-19. The government is confident that all the houses in the Permanent Wait List (PWL) would be completed by the end of Amrut Mahtosava. As against the existing Permanent Wait List (PWL) identified using the SECC database of 2011, as on date 2.14 crore beneficiaries have been found to be eligible. Though this list consisted of 2.95 crore households initially, through multistage verification including at the time of sanction, many more households have been found ineligible, therefore, this list has been pared down to 2.14 Cr. and likely to go down further. Against this, 1.92 crores (90%) houses have been sanctioned and against the sanctioned houses, 1.36 crore (71%) houses have been completed.
