At a press conference this week, with 500 of the plants on display, the Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau (MJIB) announced the results of the raid, which was conducted after three days of surveillance. The total value of the grow is allegedly worth NT$500 million ($22 million).
Taiwan News reports that pandemic border controls have led to a shortage of cannabis products and caused prices to spike. A single cannabis plant allegedly has a street value of NT$300,000 ($13,295).
The MJIB used drones and officers to monitor the location. The two men who have been detained in relation to the grow are allegedly leaders of a local drug-trafficking ring.
