New Delhi: Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda on Wednesday e-launched the new Tribes India Outlet at the Departure Lounge of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordolai International Airport, Guwahati. Along with Minister Arjun Munda, Renuka Singh, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs; Ramesh Chand Meena, Chairman, TRIFED; Pratibha Brahma, Vice Chairman, TRIFED; Pravir Krishna, Managing Director, TRIFED and Director, Airport Authority of India, Guwahati were present in the e-launch.

New Delhi: Former civil servants who have served the Central and state governments in various capacities, have lashed out at the Narendra Modi governmentâs Central Vista redevelopment project, and questioned the rationale behind its âpursuit of pomp and grandeurâ at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic is wreaking havoc on lives and livelihoods.

India has various tribes, each section has its own requirements and thus many have been ignored. India possesses the largest tribal population and it is also underprivileged in our country. Thus, to elevate the tribe, education is one of the most powerful weapons to induce socio-economic development among these tribes.
The education division of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in coordination with the Ministry of Human Resources Development and the State Governments administrations has introduced various schemes to improve education access to the tribal areas by constructing hostels for tribal students.

As the Covid-19 pandemic ravaged the world and employment opportunities dried up, in many countries including India, Adivasis returned to their intergenerational, ancestral homes, often situated near forests.
In the course of the reporting of this story, many of the Adivasi community workers from Jharkhand echoed one sentiment: “If at all we have to die, it is better to die among our loved ones.”

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) should be exempted from reservations in faculty appointments and rather than specific quotas, diversity issues should be addressed through outreach campaigns and targeted recruitment of faculty, a Ministry of Education (MoE) panel has recommended.
The eight-member committee comprising IIT directors was asked to suggest measures on effective implementation of reservation policies not only in recruitment, but also for admissions.
