MRPL) has initiated an investigation into the concerns raised by people s representatives on bypassing local people in recruitments and employing people from outside the state in the company. Being a responsible PSU, the chief vigilance officer is holding the investigation and will report to the central vigilance commission, a release from the company said on Thursday. A meeting on the recruitment issue was held recently in which the district-in-charge Minister, MP and MLAs in Dakshina Kannada district took part.
INS Jalashwa enters Visakhapatnam harbour on Sunday
VISAKHAPATNAM: Indian Oil unloaded a consignment of 11 ISO tanks filled with liquid medical oxygen (LMO), carried from Singapore by INS Jalashwa, an Indian Navy vessel at the Vishakhapatnam Port on Sunday.
The same vessel also carried two more ISO tanks of LMO, sourced by GAIL. The entire consignment has been sourced from BNF Singapore and filled at Linde at Singapore.
The ISO tanks have been taken on lease to handle the supply and logistics of LMO in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. This consignment has been earmarked to meet the pressing demand for medical oxygen in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

These plants are required in addition to 21 being set up across Odisha.
“As cases surge exponentially across the country, Prime Minster Narendra Modi has bolstered the ongoing concerted drive against the pandemic by taking several critical initiatives and crucial decisions to extend all possible assistance to states in battling the spread of the virus. Dedicated medical oxygen plants are one among them,” Pradhan wrote in his letter to Vardhan.
He said the PM has accorded emergency approval for installation of 551 PSA medical oxygen plants in public health facilities across the country from PM Cares fund in addition to the 162 PSA plants allocated earlier. It has been decided to set up 21 plants in the state by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), ministry of petroleum and natural gas and the Centre.
