PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said that Nigeria has moved a step closer to the nation’s dream of full utilisation of the nation’s abundant gas potentials.
President Buhari stated this at the commissioning of the Integrated Gas Handling Facility and LPG Processing and Dispensing Plants built and operated by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, an Upstream Subsidiary of NNPC in Oredo, Edo State.
According to the President: “The Oredo Integrated Gas Handling Facility and its associated NGLs depot will be delivering 240,000 metric tons of commercial-grade Liquefied Petroleum Gas and Propane. It will also deliver about 205 million standard cubic feet per day of lean gas to the domestic market.
The president said this on Tuesday at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa while inaugurating the Integrated Gas Handling Facility and LPG Processing and Dispensing Plants.
The plant was built and operated by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, an Upstream Subsidiary of NNPC in Oredo, Edo.
According to him, the Oredo Integrated Gas Handling Facility and its associated NGLs depot will be delivering 240,000 metric tons of commercial grades Liquefied Petroleum Gas and Propane.
He added that the facility would also deliver about 205 million standard cubic feet per day of lean gas to the domestic market.
“In addition to its import substitution benefits that brings us a step closer to self-sufficiency in LPG production and also supporting the growth of small and medium enterprises in the host communities, this project will create hundreds of direct and indirect employment opportunities for our teeming youths (both skilled and unskilled).

He made the declaration on Tuesday at the commissioning of the Integrated Gas Handling Facility and LPG Processing and Dispensing Plants built and operated by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, an Upstream Subsidiary of NNPC in Oredo, Edo State.

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, has said that soon major International Smart Phone Industries would establish their Assembling plants in Nigeria, as part of an agreement reached to boost Local Content Development.
The Minister spoke during the training of 1000 youths on GSM Phone Repairs, Maintenance, Software and Hardware Specialization organised by the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board and the House of Representatives member representing Nasarawa Federal constituency, Nasiru Ali Ahmad.
Timipre Sylva said the training is an effort by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources to develop local content with youths taking the centre stage.
The added that Nigeria has the highest GSM market in the whole of Africa, noting that GSM is not luxury but an essential commodity, hence, the training.

The National Assembly, Monday passed the 2021 Appropriation Bill to the tune of N13, 588, 027,886, 175 trillion as an aggregate expenditure.
The approval was done during an emergency session convened for the purpose of passing the budget.
