Jan 14, 2021 PM Briceño Departs the Country, Cordel Hyde is Ag. Prime Minister Prime Minister John Briceño departed the country on Tuesday, January twelfth, 2021, on personal leave.  This means that Lake Independence Area Representative Cordel Hyde is acting Prime Minister. Briceño will return on Sunday, January seventeenth. But before he left, the Prime Minister chaired a virtual cabinet session on Tuesday, during which several decisions were made. One of them is creating an inter-ministerial committee tasked with reviewing plans and protocols to reopen the Free Zone.  On this committee are ministers Michel Chebat, Jose Abelardo Mai, Kareem Musa, and Anthony Mahler. During the Cabinet meeting, Minister of Human Development Families and Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs Dolores Balderamos Garcia provided her colleague with an update regarding the Maya Land Rights Case. The newly appointed Board of the Solid Waste Management Company Limited (SWMCOL) has been issued the challenge of transforming the ways in which the country disposes of its waste by placing greater emphasis on recycling programmes, among other things. The challenge was issued by Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales MP, as he handed out Instruments of Appointment to its members at the Ministry’s Head Office in St. Clair, on Wednesday 6 January 2021.

Minister of Public Utilities Marvin Gonzales, along with other government ministers and MPs, visited the North Coast Road near Maracas on Wednesday to inspect repair work done by T&TEC.
