Education and Health will again have the largest share of public spending when Government’s new financial year starts on April 1.
This was outlined in the
Appropriation Bill 2021, which Attorney General Dale Marshall told Parliament would be debated by members of the House of Assembly from Monday at 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, Minister in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Investment Marsha Caddle said public sector investment and competitiveness would be key pillars of the 2021-2022 Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure.
Taiwanese tech CEOs released on bail over China investment violations

Taipei, March 10 (CNA) The executives of two tech companies in Taiwan were released on bail by prosecutors on Wednesday after being questioned for their alleged violation of laws governing cross-strait ties.
According to the New Taipei Prosecutors Office, the chief executive of WiseCore Technology Co., surnamed Yen (顏), and IC Link Ltd., surnamed Huang (黃), were freed on bail of NT$100,000 (US$3,534) and NT$200,000, respectively.
The vice president of a joint venture set up by WiseCore and IC Link, surnamed Tsao (曹) was also freed on bail of NT$100,000, prosecutors said. The joint venture was established with unapproved financial support from a Chinese artificial intelligence chip designer, prosecutors allege.

Offshore wind farm developers and the Ministry of Economic Affairs yesterday expressed hope that the establishment of a new industry group would facilitate communication between the fledgling industry and the government.
The launch of the Taiwan Offshore Wind Industry Association (TOWIA), which comprises eight major offshore wind farm developers with projects in Taiwan, comes just weeks ahead of a highly anticipated announcement of the “rules of the game” for the third phase of the nation’s wind farm development plan, dubbed “zonal development.”
AquaConnect – ‘Key technologies for safeguarding regional water provision in fresh water stressed deltas’.
More and more often in the Netherlands we are faced with fresh water shortages due to severe drought. The extensive AquaConnect consortium offers a solution for this: the researchers want to enable the use of wastewater and brackish groundwater with new water purification technologies. The program will show four regions how they can become self-sufficient in fresh water supply as an example for other places in the world.

In the coming years, six consortia of companies, educational and knowledge institutions and governments will work on research aimed at technological innovation with economic potential. Within the so-called Perspective program of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) they will receive a total of 22 million euros from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Change and 10 million euros from the 138 companies and civil society organizations involved. TU/e is part of all six consortia, and is also program leader in two of them.
Perspective is a program that challenges scientists to set up new lines of research with economic and social impact in collaboration with industry and civil society organizations. Perspective aims to contribute to the creation of economic opportunities within the key technologies and societal themes of the mission-driven innovation policy.
