The Federal Secretary for Narcotics Control Akbar Durrani said at a meeting Friday that every major hospital across the country should have a ward especially for the treatment and rehabilitation of drug users.
Only 216 beds in different hospitals were reserved for the treatment of drug users, he said while speaking at the Ministry of Narcotics Control.
He remarked the government was working on setting up a model rehabilitation centre in Islamabad, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.Â

Secretary Ministry of Narcotics Control visits Headquarters Anti-Narcotics Force

(Retd) Akbar Hussain Durrani paid his first formal visit to Headquarters Anti-Narcotics Force, Rawalpindi after assuming the charge of Secretary MNC. Pakistan to work with Saudi Arabia to combat drug smuggling: Ijaz Shah

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Narcotics Control brigadier (retd) Ijaz Ahmad Shah met with the Drug Liaison Officer of Saudi Arabia Faisal Alboghami at the Ministry of Narcotics Control in Islamabad.
The two discussed the mutual cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to combat drug problem and create a drugs free society.
“The drug suppliers are the real culprits, they must be held accountable for their actions,” Ijaz Ahmad Shah said.
“The ones who fall prey to drug abuse are victims, we are trying to formulate a cohesive approach to rehabilitate these people,” he added.
