NEW DELHI â Indian students were hitting the books hard in preparation for a big test on cows, reading that Indiaâs cows have more emotions than foreign ones, and that their humps have special powers.
But facing widespread ridicule, this weekend the government abruptly postponed the first exam based on a new curriculum, pushed by Prime Minister Narendra Modiâs Hindu nationalist government.
The planned International Webinar on Entrepreneurship Development on “Seaweed Business by Cooperatives” went off well on Thursday with participants from across the globe making significant contributions to the discussion.
Jointly organized by Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Govt of India, LINAC-NCDC, Ministry of Agri and NEDAC, Bangkok, the Webinar had Dr Rajeev Ranjan, Secretary Department of Fisheries as the chief guest.
Introductory remarks were made by webinar coordinator, Prof Krishna R Salin, Director, NEDAC Bangkok. Sundeep Nayak MD, NCDC informed that the NEDAC comprises coastal countries participating in the webinar to deliberate on the potential and the challenges in the seaweeds farming in the coastal zones.

Mumbai – Yesterday,
Aryan Kumar, a grade 12 student at Lotus Valley, and
Jaanashee, a grade 11 student at The Shriram Millinneum School, submitted copies of a petition with the signatures of 1,00,000 students from private and government schools across the country urging the Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries to pass draft rules to ban the use of all animals in circuses. Other schools supporting the campaign include Mumbai’s Aditya Birla World Academy, Ajmera Global School, and Apostolic Carmel High School & Junior College; Delhi’s Vishal Bharti Public School; and Chennai’s German International Academy.
“Sensitive animals exploited by archaic circuses have true allies in today’s caring young people,” says PETA India Associate Director of Education and Youth Outreach Puja Mahajan. “Every one of these signatures is from a young person who wants to make India a kinder country for all, including animals.”
