Malaysia reports 17,105 new COVID-19 cases, 195 new deaths Xinhua 04 Aug 2021, 08:44 GMT+10 KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) Malaysia has reported 17,105 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the national total to 1,163,291, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday. Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that 37 of the new cases are imported and 17,068 are local transmissions. Another 195 more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 9,598. Some 12,297 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 950,029, or 81.7 percent of all cases. Of the remaining 203,664 active cases, 1,066 are being held in intensive care and 537 of those are in need of assisted breathing.
