The Slovenian government has dropped plans to establish a new national carrier using European Union funds. The Ministry for Economic Development and Technology confirmed the draft of Slovenia’s Recovery and Resilience Plan, which must be approved by the European Commission in order for it to allocate the country 1.6 billion euros in grants and 3.6 billion in repayable funds to soften the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, no longer contains a proposal to co-finance a new flag carrier. European officials previously expressed concerns over plans to allocate 76 million euros towards the creation of a new national airline.

The field of bidders for Piaggio Aerospace has narrowed again, with four entities filing non-binding offers by the March 5 deadline. After weighing expressions of interest from 19 potential bidders for Piaggio, the Italian Ministry for Economic Development late last month had extended invitations to five entities from three continents to submit offers.
Piaggio Aerospace commissioner Vincenzo Nicastro will assess the offers and send the analysis to the Ministry for Economic Development to determine the strongest bidder. Negotiations will then begin with that organization. Officials estimated that the negotiating period would last about a month before an irrevocable and binding offer is finalized.

Four companies are in the running to acquire beleaguered Italian airframer Piaggio Aerospace after meeting a 5 March deadline to submit offers.
Piaggio has since 2018 been in extraordinary administration – an Italian business rescue process – that saw a state-appointed commissioner, Vincenzo Nicastro, overseeing its restructuring and sale.

Those four bids will now be assessed by Nicastro and “and a team of experts” before a recommendation is passed to the country’s Ministry for Economic Development.
Should the ministry assent, negotiations with the selected bidder will start. These will last around one month and are intended to lead to a binding offer.
