The Infrastructure Minister has outlined high level budget commitments for the new financial year.
The Department has a capital budget of £722.5million and a resource budget of £429.9m, which includes a £9.2m allocation specifically for Covid.
Outlining how she plans to spend the capital allocations this year Nichola Mallon said: The budget allocations I have received this year are necessary for the maintenance and investment in our existing public infrastructure valued in excess of £30bn. This infrastructure, comprised of an urban and rural road network; rail network; water infrastructure provides the foundations for effective and efficient public services. It also provides the foundations on which to help stimulate economic growth across the North.

Construction work has commenced to develop new Park and Ride facilities at Trooperslane, Carrickfergus.
The scheme which is being brought forward under the first phase of Minister Mallon s Park and Ride programme will provide approximately 200 additional spaces at Trooperslane rail station and is designed to help meet present and future demand from passengers on the Larne Line.

In welcome news for investment in Fermanagh, Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon confirmed today (Tuesday) her intention to proceed with the Enniskillen Southern Bypass scheme and make the statutory orders, having considered all of the environmental information and responses to the consultation of the scheme and the draft orders. The long awaited bypass will provide a direct link between the A4 Dublin Road to the east of the town and the A4 Belcoo Road to the west via the A509 Derrylin Road, and onwards to Sligo and is estimated to cost between £25-30 million. The project will involved the construction of new carriageway, cycleways/footways, roundabouts and river bridges.
