The demand for chemical fertilisers has increased by four lakh tonnes for crops cultivation across the country in the upcoming fiscal compared to the current year.
For 2021-22, the demand for chemical fertilisers was fixed at 66 lakh tonnes whereas the demand was 62 lakh tonnes in 2020-21, agriculture ministry officials said, our Rajshahi correspondent reports.

The online platform will enable businesses to get certificates for releasing goods and anchorage apart from getting import permits, and phyto-sanitary certificates, said the Agriculture ministry press statement.
Introduction of electronic system will be helpful to verify the authenticity of plant health certificates issued online.

DHAKA: Bangladesh on Sunday launched its nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive with lawmakers along with top administration and health officials taking the first shots of the vaccine.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque, who inaugurated the campaign at a virtual event at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) here, urged people not to spread propaganda against the vaccine, saying it is safe and has no side effects, Dhaka Tribune newspaper reported.
