Former United Nations Children s Fund (UNICEF) Resident Representative to the Maldives Dr. Munir Safieldin bid a formal farewell to government dignitaries before leaving the country last month following the end of a successful tenure.
Dr. Safieldin served as UNICEF representative to the Maldives since 2017, and has since built close professional relationships with leaders of the government that reflect the strengthening of the bond between UNICEF and Maldives in recent years. A ceremony was held on 2 December 2020 at the Maldives National University (MNU) to bid farewell to Dr. Safieldin before he left the country.

The government of Maldives announced Tuesday its decision to reinstate full diplomatic relations with Qatar, nearly three years after the island nation severed ties with the Gulf nation.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid made the declaration just hours after Saudi Arabia announced that the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt were joining it in re-establishing ties with Qatar, during the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) s annual summit held earlier the same day.

Saudi Arabia is committed to working with the Maldivian government to further enhance relations.
While the country’s newly appointed Ambassador to the Maldives, Matrek Abdullah Al-Ajalin Aldosari, presented his credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday, he met with Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid afterwards.
The minister congratulated Aldosari on his appointment as Saudi Arabia’s resident ambassador to Maldives and wished him success, while the ambassador assured commitment to working with the Maldivian government to further enhance the relations between the two countries.
