The Biden administration announced Wednesday that it will support waiving intellectual property protections for coronavirus vaccines and will move forward with international negotiations to do so, arguing that the global health crisis calls for extraordinary measures. “The Administration believes strongly in intellectual property protections, but in service of ending this pandemic, supports the waiver of those protections for COVID-19 vaccines,” U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai said in a statement.
