Vietnamese Minister of National Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen. Phan Van Giang hosted an official welcome ceremony in Hanoi on April 25 for Chinese State Councillor and Minister of National Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen. Wei Fenghe, who is paying an official visit to Vietnam from April 24-27.

During the talks held following the ceremony, Giang, who is also a member of the Politburo and Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, lauded the Chinese minister’s visit, saying that it shows the special attention of the Chinese Party, Government and Ministry of National Defence to promoting the sound traditional friendship between the two Parties and States as well as the two Ministries of National Defence in particular, for the interest of both peoples and peace, stability, cooperation and development in each country as well as in the region and the world.

Vietnam is seriously concerned over escalating violence and fatalities in Myanmar recently and has asked Myanmar to protect Vietnamese citizens and businesses in the country, the foreign spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said on Thursday.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang responded to press queries during the regular briefing on Thursday in Hanoi.
Responding to media queries on the protests against the military rule in Myanmar, the Vietnamese diplomat called on all related parties to exercise utmost restraint , avoid the use of excessive violence, and try to resolve conflicts via dialogues.

Trinidad and Tobago men’s football team coach Terry Fenwick is still hopeful that his squad will have a few friendly international matches before they start their 2022 FIFA World Cup Concacaf Zone qualifiers in March.
