RAIC Holds Round Table on FOI Law Written by Abdulai Braima
In its drive to popularize Right to Access Information Act of 2013 to ensure compliance, the Right to Access information Commission RAIC with support from the Open Society Initiative for West Africa OSIWA has on Thursday 25th February held a round table for professional interest groups at the Atlantic Lumley Hotel, Aberdeen in Freetown.
The session which targeted The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists SLAJ, The Sierra Leone Teachers Union, SLTU, The Sierra Leone Labour Congress and the Sierra Leone Association of Non-Governmental Organizations SLANGO, among others engaged them on their rights and obligation in the Freedom of Information Law.

The Imo State Executive Council rose on Wednesday from its regular meeting presided over by Governor Hope Uzodimma, and directed that cash payments will no longer be accepted in the ministries, departments and agencies of government.
Briefing reporters after the meeting the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba also informed that Imo State is ready to receive the Covid-19 vaccine before the end of the week.
“Government has put in place the necessary conditions for the supply which include: preserving the vaccine in the 305 INEC Wards of the State with solar powered refrigerators.
“Government has also released a reasonable amount of money for the training of those who will carry out the vaccination administration as many people will be captured in the first phase of the programme,” Emelumba explained.

It is a known fact that in spite of the avowed anti-graft drive of government, corruption, a hydra-headed monster, has continued to mutate in the country.
Anti-graft agencies have battled top officials of government and ministries, some of whom were jailed while others are still standing trial even as others are under investigation.
The different corruption schemes in the MDAs have been variously called ghost workers syndrome, padding, diversion of public funds, bribery and corruption and looting, even some recovered loot were re-looted.
