Woman dies in Ionia County house fire

IONIA â Police say a 66-year-old woman has died after a house fire in the Ionia area Thursday morning.
It happened around 7 a.m. at a home in the 2200 block of Kelloggs Road in Ionia.
The woman was later found dead inside the home.

The victim’s name was not immediately released.
The fire was reported at 6:54 a.m. in the 2200 block of Kellogg Road, between East Parmeter and Cooper roads, Ionia County Department of Public Safety reported.
While police officers and firefighters were responding, they were told that the homeowner was still inside. The house was engulfed in flames upon rescuers’ arrival. They could not enter the home because of heavy fire.
The victim was later found dead in the home.
Ionia Department of Public Safety and the state fire marshal are investigating the cause of the fire.
