The NHS and care workers who have died during the coronavirus pandemic

At least 222 frontline health and care workers have been identified after dying with coronavirus. Through tributes from loved ones and confirmation through sources such as local NHS trusts and other authorities, the PA news agency has confirmed the names of health and social care workers who have died after contracting Covid-19 since March 11 2020. This chronological list contains people who were working in roles shortly before their deaths where they were likely to come into contact with patients. The figure is likely to be lower than the true number of workers who have died, as the names of some victims will not yet be in the public domain.

Coronavirus: Almost all care homes vaccinated in Wigan borough

Forty-nine of the borough’s 52 care homes have received coronavirus vaccines so far. Three care homes currently have cases of Covid so cannot be vaccinated yet. The local NHS body overseeing the community vaccination programme has said the remaining three care homes will be vaccinated as soon as possible. It comes as around 37,500 doses have now been administered across Wigan. Of those, 27,500 vaccine doses have been administered to people in priority groups and 10,000 health and social care staff have also been vaccinated. This includes those vaccinated at centres in Leigh, Golborne, Hindley and Wigan and by Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.
