2021 AZ Awards: Meet the Jury
In 2021, the
AZ Awards will be juried by 10 design world luminaries rather than five. As we venture into this new decade, embracing an awards season that will play out digitally and IRL, we decided to bring together a larger jury of professionals from around the world to select the finalists and winners. An international contest has been launched to create a new £248 million (CAN$430 million) mixed-use office block for the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa [Deadline: 16 February 2021]
The two-stage competition – backed by the Government of Canada and endorsed by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada – will select a team to renovate and redevelop a large urban block located immediately opposite the Gothic Revival Canadian Parliament Buildings.

The ‘Block C’ project will transform a 9,800m² plot, which currently hosts eleven buildings, into a ‘innovative and creative’ new 30,000m² complex featuring office space for the Senate of Canada and House of Commons, branch space for the Library of Parliament, and shop units fronting Ottawa’s famous Sparks Street Mall. Twelve longlisted teams will each receive £69,000 (CAN$120,000) to draw up design concepts, six finalists will each r
