In October, the CDC issued Conditional Sailing Order for operators, which acted as a guidance for a phased resumption of cruise ship passenger operations. On Wednesday, it announced two new phases and said operators now have all necessary requirements needed “to start simulated voyages before resuming restricted passenger voyages and apply for a COVID-19 conditional sailing certificate to begin sailing with restricted passenger voyages.”

A federal judge in Miami ordered lawyers in a lawsuit against Royal Caribbean Cruises to rewrite several court filings because of “unprofessional” and “inflammatory” language. U.S. District Judge Donald L. Graham of the Southern District of Florida ordered lawyers on both sides to rewrite documents that include motions for sanctions and partial summary judgment and responses to those motions. Graham also ordered the lawyers to submit filings discussing whether the matter should be referred to the federal court’s attorney grievance committee.
