The pay deal applies to the roughly 154,000 employees covered by the Agenda for Change contract.
It will cover the 2021-22 financial year and will also be backdated to 1 December 2020 in recognition of the workforce’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, in terms of when staff will see money in their pockets, the Scottish Government only gave a timeframe of “this summer”. The last Agenda for Change deal expired in April 2021.
First minister Nicola Sturgeon said she was “delighted” that the majority of NHS staff had voted to accept the offer.
She also pointed out that staff in Scotland would be “considerably better offer” in 2021-22 than their counterparts in England if the UK Government went ahead with controversial plans to award a 1% rise.
