RSA Sues Insurer Over Tower Block Repair Costs
Law360, London (May 13, 2021, 4:37 PM BST) Royal & Sun Alliance has sued another insurer in London for failing to contribute to the £6 million ($8.4 million) cost of repairing an apartment block in northern England after design defects led to chunks of cladding falling off.
RSA and the construction company, G&J Seddon Ltd., sued Axis Specialty Europe Ltd. and Axis Specialty Europe SE at the High Court on May 4 in connection with repair works on several apartment blocks in Wigan, Greater Manchester. RSA was forced to indemnify Seddon after rendering fell off one of the tower blocks in 2013, sparking complaints from residents.

Vikas Shah and Stephen Hill appointed to BEIS Board
Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng has today (13 May 2021) appointed Vikas Shah MBE and Stephen Hill OBE as non-executive board members at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
Vikas and Stephen will help to steer the department’s board as BEIS tackles key issues facing the UK, including the economic recovery from coronavirus, efforts to combat climate change and promote science, research and innovation, while ensuring the UK is a great place to work and to grow a business.
Both appointees bring a wealth of experience to their roles. Vikas Shah was awarded an MBE for Services to Business and the Economy in 2018, and is the Managing Director of Swiscot Group, and President of the North West Region chapter of TiE – the world’s largest entrepreneurs network.
Stephen Hill
Biography
Mr Hill is Chairman of the Alzheimer Society, a non-executive director of Applerigg Ltd, an investment holding company, and manages his own family’s investment and philanthropic businesses.
Stephen has extensive board experience having served as an independent director on the boards of Channel Four Television, Royal SunAlliance PLC, Psion plc, Aztec Ltd and IG Group plc in the UK and as Chairman of the Board of Interactive Data Inc in the US. He was also an independent member of the board of OFCOM, the media regulator, from 2014 to 2016.
From 1996 to 2002 he was Chief Executive of the Financial Times Group and a member of the Pearson Management Board, and, prior to that, he had held Managing Director roles at a number of entities within Pearson in a career spanning 15 years.
