19 private hospitals in Coimbatore to offer COVID-19 treatment under CMCHIS

Updated: Share Article AAA A total of 19 private hospitals in Coimbatore district were approved to offer treatment for COVID-19 under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS), the district administration said on Tuesday. The private hospitals to offer COVID-19 treatment under the insurance scheme include Abinand Hospital, Sathya Medical Centre, NG Hospital, CSR Nursing Home, Kongunadu Hospital, Kalpana Medical Centre, Sree Abirami Hospital, KG Hospital, Hindustan Hospital, Karpagam Hospital, One Care Hospital, GKNM Hospital, Gem Hospital, Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Royal Care Hospital, Sri Lakshmi Hospital, NM Hospital and Kovai Medical Center and Hospital. The district administration said that people who are affected by COVID-19 can directly seek treatment at these hospitals without the recommendation from a government hospital. The expense of the treatment will be borne under the CMCHIS scheme.

District records slight dip in Covid caseload | Coimbatore News

Coimbatore: The district recorded a slight dip in Covid-19 cases, with only 996 people declared positive on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases past the 75,000-mark to 75,293. Though 745 people were discharged, the number of active cases inched closer to the 7,000-mark at 6,948. The district also recorded one death due to the virus, taking the toll to 717. The victim was a 29-year-old man, who suffered from obesity, and died three days after testing positive at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital due to bilateral bronchopneumonia and respiratory disease. Over the last one week, the number of cases the city corporation accounted has grown from 59% on Monday to 60.97% on Tuesday. Within the civic body, the north zone, which consists of Ganapathy, Kavundampalayam and surrounding area, reported the highest number of cases at 166. 21,274 frontline workers register for vaccination | Coimbatore News

Coimbatore: Vaccination of frontline workers against Covid-19 will begin on Wednesday. Already, 21,274 workers have registered to receive the shot and they could choose any of the 22 vaccination sites in the district. While 12 sites are within the city corporation limits, the remaining 10 are spread across rural parts of the district. All the beneficiaries have to produce three identity cards - Aadhar card, government employee id card and pan card or driving licence or voter id. Of the 21,274, workers, 10,421 are from urban and housing affairs, 9,849 from home affairs and 1,004 from the revenue department. “We first invite police, revenue, local body, panchayat and ICDS department staff to get vaccinated,” said Dr G Ramesh Kumar, deputy director of public health. While police constitute majority of the 9,849 home affairs staff, 6,600 city corporation staff have also registered for vaccination.
