A teenage boy is fighting for his life in hospital after falling 10 metres off a cliff during a police pursuit in Sydney s inner west early this morning.
Key points:
Police say the boys are from Sydney s south west
According to police, the pursuit lasted mere seconds
Police allege the 17-year-old and another boy, also 17, were riding stolen motorcycles in Glebe when officers tried to stop them for a random breath test.
She said that, after running a check on one motorcycle and finding a report that it was stolen, the officers then directed the teenagers to pull over and were planning to breath-test them.
But the boys did not pull over when asked, acting Assistant Commissioner Maloney said. At that point the motorcycles accelerated and they [the teens] dropped the bikes.
She then confirmed there was a short pursuit that lasted mere seconds down Toxteth Road.

The teenagers continued on foot and police allege that, when they reached the end of the road, a cul-de-sac, they jumped over a fence that was barricading a cliff.
