DISCOUNT retailers Lidl has reaffirmed its commitment to opening two new supermarkets in West Fife. The firm this week published a list of preferred site locations in Fife for potential new stores to be built which included ones in Dunfermline North and Dunfermline South. Lidl have outlined plans previously for new outlets at both the Halbeath Retail Park and for Admiralty Road in Rosyth, however, there s no sign of progress with either despite planning permission being in place. Following their latest update, a Lidl spokesperson confirmed they were still committed to bringing stores to both Rosyth and Dunfermline. We are working on site opportunities in the towns at this time and look forward to sharing firm plans with the communities as soon as we are in a position to do so, said the spokesperson.
What is the key aim of the Global Sustainable Credit Fund? Our aim is to invest in companies that have a positive impact on the environment and society without.
PLANNING permission for the long-awaited new Lidl store and Marks and Spencer Foodhall in Dunfermline has been extended for another year. The addition of nine new shop units at Halbeath Retail Park, a development that promises to bring 200 jobs, was given consent by Fife Council in August 2017. Work has yet to start but the owners, Royal London Mutual Insurance Society, have been given more time. Planning consent normally runs for three years and last year, due to the pandemic, it was extended to April 7, 2021, with a council spokesperson confirming this week it s now been extended again until March 31, 2022. Dunfermline councillor Ian Ferguson said: There was a big fight when this originally happened about how much money the developer was going to have to pay for roads etc.
