Uproar greeted news that supermarket chain Lidl wanted to demolish a former Liverpool cinema to make way for a new store. Plans will be put before the council to level the former Abbey Cinema building on Church Road North in Wavertree, which featured in the original draft lyrics to The Beatles song In My Life. Lidl bought the old picture palace last year, after the Co-op moved out.

Neil Astles Tributes have been paid to a man from Cheshire who died from a blood clot after getting the coronavirus vaccine.
Neil Astles, a solicitor at Warrington Council, died on Sunday (April 4) after getting the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine on March 17.
The 59-year-old was the first person to have been named as one of those who died following concerns about a link between fatal blood clots and the jab.
