A couple have spoken of their ordeal after they were both struck down with Covid-19. Alan Frisby was rushed to the Royal Stoke University Hospital after being diagnosed with coronavirus, along with pneumonia and bronchitis.
The 87-year-old, from Brown Edge, said: “You are in a hospital bed, dependent on oxygen and the care of the nurses around you.
Madison Adams, 26, from Stoke-on-Trent was skating with a friend on holiday Llandudno, Wales.
She was trying out her new skates - which she jokingly called her cute little death traps - when she collided with her friend s skateboard and smashed her skull.
Ms Adams, who works for an optician, was sent sprawling to the ground and hit her head on the path.

A woman has been left partially paralysed and suffered a brain bleed after a horrific high-speed roller-skating crash. Holidaymaker Madison Adams was trying out her new skates – which she jokingly called her “cute little death traps” – when she smashed her skull while she was skating down a steep hill along the coast path between Rhyl and Colwyn Bay. Madison, who works at an opticians, was on holiday in her campervan with her pet dog Noah, when she collided with her friend s skateboard and was sent onto the ground, hitting her head on the path. She was taken to hospital where she was treated for a bleed on the brain after the crash on April 19.
