Mr. Sisodia claimed that this was against democracy, constitution, and will of the people of Delhi. “Today [Thursday], from media reports, we came to know that the Central government on Wednesday passed a law in the Cabinet to snatch the powers of the Delhi’s elected government [Chief Minister and Ministers] and give to the L-G. By amending the GNCTD Act, the Central government is going to give so much power to the L-G that he can stop the Delhi’s elected government’s work,” Mr. Sisodia said in a video statement.

Sisodia termed the bill as the murder of constitutional democracy and said that the Central government wants to impede Delhi s development and progress by enhancing Lieutenant Governor (LG) s power. The Union Cabinet gave nod to GNCTD (Amendment) Bill in a secretive way yesterday. The Bill would give LG power to stop work being done by the government elected by the people of Delhi. Giving powers to LG means handing it to the Centre and in tandem to BJP. It is against constitution and democracy, Sisodia said.

Highly Invasive : Internet Freedom Foundation Moves Supreme Court Against WhatsApp s Updated Privacy Policy

The Internet Freedom Foundation has moved the Supreme Court seeking an interim stay on Whatsapp s updated privacy policy and guidelines to safeguard the personal data and privacy of over 400 million Indian WhatsApp users. The intervention application is filed in special leave petition filed by Karmanya Singh Sareen and Shreya Sethi in 2017, challenging the 2016 privacy policy of the company. The matter is being heard by a Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court. In the instant application filed though Advocate TVS Raghavendra Sreyas, IFF has stated that the 2021 Policy of Whatsapp is highly invasive and has been unilaterally forced upon Indian internet users.
