PR Campbell dies at age 75

Legal luminary and elder statesman Parnel Randolph Campbell QC, will be accorded an official funeral, a status befitting someone who has served the nation well.
Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, in a tribute broadcast on NBC Radio said Campbell, who died at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital on Monday, April 19, was among the best of our nation and once his family gives permission, he will be given an official funeral by “a grateful nation”.
News of the former politician’s death, which spread quickly on social media late Monday night, took many by shock, coming as it did just hours after a repeat broadcast of his show ‘The Law and You’ had aired on SVG TV. That weekly television programme, which had its debut in April 1997, was broadcast for half an hour every Monday night, except on public holidays, for the last 24 years.

Vincentians are mourning the death of Parnel Campbell QC, who passed away last night.
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has expressed sadness and personal loss of Mr. Campbell who served as Attorney General and Minister of Justice of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, from 1987 to 1995.
He also served as the Chairman of the Constitutional Review Commission, and he was the Presenter of the weekly Public Education Programme The law and You, sponsored by SVG Television.
Reflecting on his life, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves described Mr. Campbell as an outstanding patriot.
The Prime Minister expressed condolences to the family of the late Parnel Campbell QC.
MP Nalule appointed new EOC boss

Born in 1966, Ms Nalule is a member of the Appointments Committee. Before joining Parliament, she was a commissioner of the Constitutional Review Commission between 2005 and 2006.

President Museveni has appointed Ms Safia Jjuko Nalule as the new chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC).
Ms Nalule, who is the MP representing people with disabilities in central region, replaces Ms Sylvia Muwebwa Ntambi whose five-year term of office expired in January.
The President has reappointed Mr Joel Ojok Cox as the vice chairperson of the commission for the second term.
Other appointees are Mr Denis Tumusime, Mr Ibrahim Zaidi Edema and Sr Mary Wasagali, all as members of the commission.
The business of boundaries Sean McWeeney, QC, who chaired the last Constitutional Review Commission, which proposed merging the functions of elections management and boundaries review into a single independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
