Some Christian leaders, yesterday, asked the Federal Government to rescue Leah Sharibu, the Dapchi schoolgirl still held in Boko Haram captivity on account of her faith in Christ.
They renewed the call for her freedom sequel to the quick release of about 344 schoolboys kidnapped from Government Secondary School Kankara, in Katsina, owing to the swift response by the authorities.
Speaking in an interview, CAN President, Revd. Samson Ayokunle, welcomed the release of the schoolboys but maintained that there was still the moral burden on the government to secure Leah Sharibu’s freedom as well.
He said: “While we congratulate the Federal Government for working hard to secure the release of these boys, and the parents for the joy of having their children back, more needs to be done.

The Chief of Army Staff, (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai has directed troops of Operation Sahel Sanity and Operation Hadarin Daji to always remain in war mode across their areas of operations with a view to deny any space of breath for bandits. Buratai, who was on operational visit to Nigerian Army Special Super Camp 4 Faskari in katsina state today (Monday), gave the order to both the Operations as that would maintain the confidence people of the north-west have in the operations carried by the Nigerian Army against banditry. Earlier, the COAS was briefed on the operational activities, successes and achievements of the troops on Operation Sahel Sanity and Operation Hadarin Daji in the North western part of nigeria especially in Zamfara, katsina, sokoto and kaduna states.

Jos, Dec. 19, 2020 Some Christian women in Plateau have commended the Federal Government for the timely release of the abducted students of Government Secondary School Kankara in Katsina State.
The women, who made the commendation while speaking to journalists on Saturday in Jos, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his timely intervention.
Dr Gloria Puldu, the President of LEAH Foundation, said the efforts put in by the Federal Government to rescue the abducted students within six days goes a long way to show its readiness to tackle insecurity in the country.
Puldu, however, called on the government to intensify efforts to rescue the remaining 112 Chibok school girls who had been in captivity for the past six years.

In his reaction to the release of over 344 schoolboys abducted by bandits from a Government Secondary School, Kankara on Thursday evening, President Muhammadu Buhari commended Governors Aminu Masari and Bello Matawalle of Katsina and Zamfara states respectively for working with the security operatives to free the students from their abductors.
Government Secondary School Kankara where the students were abducted 11 December is in Katsina State.
But the bandits who abducted the students operate across the vast forests of Northwest Nigeria, hence it was not a surprise when Governor Masari said he had information that the students have been relocated to a forest in Zamfara some days after they were abducted.
