Lord Nazir says India committing severe rights violations, genocide of Kashmiris

A webinar was held here on Sunday at the Government College University Lahore on human rights violations in Kashmir.
Lord Nazir Ahmed, the former member of the House of Lords, the UK, joined the students and faculty live from the Syndicate Committee along with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi and office-bearers of GCU Kashmir Society.
Speaking on the occasion, Lord Nazir said that India was committing severe human rights violations and genocide of the Kashmiris in the occupied territory for which it should not only be exposed but also must be tried in the International Criminal Court. He also highlighted the plight of Kashmiris who had been locked ahead of August 5 last year – the day the Indian government stripped the valley of its special status.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Keeping in view the COVID-19 pandemic and high inflation rate, it seems next to impossible for the higher education sector to sustain without a significant increase in education funding in the forthcoming budget.
The government should make a substantial increase in the education budget and announce a special relief package in the coming budget in order to meet the growing education needs and cope with the modern days requirements.

No doubt education is very important subject and basic need of every citizen of the country, but, unfortunately, since the last few years, this important subject has not been of priority among the concerned authorities. It is indeed unfortunate that rather than increasing the education budget, it has been decreased, and due to this, universities and Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) have suffered the most. Certainly, it should be the first and foremost responsibility of the governments, education ministry, and the concerned authorities, like the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
