Many priests who took part test positive
A retreat organised by the South Kerala diocese of the Church of South India (CSI) at the Christ Church in Munnar last month has come under a cloud after a number of priests who participated in the four-day event tested positive for COVID-19.
There are conflicting reports on the exact number of people who had contracted the disease, with one faction of the CSI claiming that close to 100 priests have tested positive over the past weeks, while the official faction claims that only around 24 of those got the disease.

Renowned Malayalam poet and activist Sugathakumari has passed away. She was
86.
She had been undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram after testing positive for the coronavirus.
Sugathakumari has been suffering from bronchopneumonia, a type of pneumonia that causes inflammation in the alveoli or air sacs in the lungs.
The daughter of freedom fighter Bodheswaran and VS Karthiyani, she was awarded the Padma Shri in recognition of her poetry in 2006, and recieved the award from then Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam.
Sugathakumari was also the former chairperson of the Kerala State Women’s Commission.
