Health department officials said vaccination was being done at the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital, Mettur Government Headquarters Hospital, government hospitals at Edappadi, Attur, Valapadi and Omalur and at the 40 primary health centres (PHCs) across the district free of cost. Since adequate stock was available at the hospitals and PHCs, people have been asked to get vaccinated.

Unhappy over her husband’s addiction to alcohol, a 30-year-old woman ended her life while her husband, who was upset over her death, also ended his life.
Police said Sundarraj (35) and Barathi were working at power looms and had nine-year-old and four-year-old sons. Sundarraj, in inebriated condition, used to quarrel with her frequently. On February 10, a dispute broke between the couple and Barathi took the extreme step. She was given first-aid at a private hospital and later admitted to the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital where she died on February 13.

Health workers were administered the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine at health facilities here on Saturday.
According to Health Department officials, 16, 617 doses of Covishield vaccines were administered to health workers and other frontline workers during the first phase in the district.

Healthcare and frontline workers to be vaccinated in the first phase
The administration of COVID-19 vaccines to healthcare workers was launched in Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts on Saturday.
Minister for Social Welfare V. Saroja and District Collector K.Megraj started the vaccination drive at the Namakkal Government Medical College Hospital.
The drive was also launched at Rasipuram and Tiruchengode government hospitals.
