Fifteen persons were injured in a head-on collision involving two government buses at Koliyanur near here in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to police, a State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) bus was going from Chennai to Peravurani when it collided head-on with a Chennai-bound TNSTC bus from Kumbakonam.

Krishna, 31, the main accused in the beheading of history-sheeter K. Veera alias Veerangan, was allegedly killed in a shootout with the police at Kumudiyankuppam, near Panruti, on Wednesday morning.
The “encounter in self-defence” took place in the Pudupettai police station limits.
Cuddalore Superintendent of Police M. Sree Abhinav said the police had tracked five of the 10 accused, including Krishna, within a few hours of the beheading. The arrested were identified as Arun Pandian, 27, Sudhakar, 23, Ramanan, 24 and Rajasekhar, 23.

Police officers among those inoculated Collector A. Annadurai and senior officials were administered Covishield as part of the immunisation programme for the Revenue and Police Department, local administration officials and other frontline staff.
The COVID-19 vaccination programme for healthcare workers started in Villupuram, Cuddalore and Kallakurichi districts on January 16.
In Villupuram district, 10,000 healthcare workers had registered for the vaccines. Of these, 2,200 have been inoculated as on Wednesday.
On Thursday, Mr. Annadurai and Additional Collector (Revenue) Shreya P. Singh visited the Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital (GVMCH) and took the vaccine shot.

Police said neighbours got suspicious after the couple did not come out in the morning. A carpenter, his wife, and their three children including a five-year-old boy were found dead in their house at Pudupalayam near Valavanur in Villupuram district on December 14.
Police identified the deceased as Mohan, 40, of Pudupalayam, his wife Vigneshwari, 37, and children Vimalashree, 10, Rajashree, 8 and Sivabalan.
Police said neighbours got suspicious after the couple did not come out in the morning. They broke open the doors and found the couple and their children dead and alerted the Valavanur police.
