Pakistan: OGDCL announces gas condensate discovery at Sial-1 well 02 Feb 2021 Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) as operator (95%) and Government Holdings (Pvt) Limited (5%) has discovered gas & condensate at its exploratory well Sial-1, which is located in Hyderabad, Sindh Province. The structure of Sial-1 was drilled and tested using OGDCL s in house expertise. The well was drilled down to the depth of 2442 Meters.  Based on logs data, the well was tested at rate of 1.146 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 680 barrels per day (BPD) of condensate through 32/64 choke at well head flowing pressure of ~460 pound per square inch (Psi) from Lower Goru Formation.

Logs from subsequent testing showed the discovery well flowed at a rate of 1.15 million cubic feet of gas per day and 680 barrels per day of condensate from the Lower Goru formation, through a 0.5-inch choke. “The discovery of Sial-1 is the result of aggressive exploration strategy adopted by the company,” OGDCL said in Tuesday’s statement. “It has opened a new avenue and would add to the hydrocarbon reserves base of OGDCL, its joint venture partners and of the country. It will also contribute in reducing the supply and demand gap of oil and gas in the country through the exploration and exploitation of indigenous resources.”

Govt floats tender to import 280,000cm LNG for April Business December 31, 2020 KARACHI: Government issued a tender to import 280,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas for delivery in April from the spot market, acting promptly after a cold-shoulder response to the delayed tenders for January cargoes, it was learnt on Wednesday. Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL), a subsidiary of Government Holdings (Pvt) Limited, floated the tender to import 140,000 cubic meters each of LNG. An advertisement by PLL said the country is seeking cargoes – each of 140,000 cubic metres in two delivery windows. January 29 is the deadline for submission of bids. The first LNG cargo will be delivered on April 6 and second on April 19-20 on a delivered ex-ship basis, according to the PLL.

ECC approves issuance of $500mln Eurobonds for dams Business December 25, 2020 ISLAMABAD: Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet on Thursday approved issuance of $500 million Eurobonds to finance construction of Diamer Basha and Mohmand dams and Karachi transformation plan. Ministry of water resources presented a summary for issuance of the Water and Power Development Authority’s (Wapda) debut $500 million Eurobonds to arrange finances for Diamer Basha and Mohmand dams. Diamer-Basha dam is estimated to cost Rs442 billion, while Mohamand dam has an estimated cost of Rs310 billion. Construction contracts have already been awarded to two separate consortiums of Chinese and Pakistani firms.
