British skateboarding sensation Sky Brown, 13, qualified second for the women s park final as she bids to become the youngest gold medallist in Olympic history on Wednesday.
Brown was flawless in the three runs of her heat to register a best score of 57.40, trailing 15-year-old Japanese Misugu Okamoto (58.51) into the final at Tokyo s sun-baked Ariake Urban Sports Park.
Japan s Kokona Hiraki placed third in the heats among an ultra-young field where only eight of the 20 competitors were out of their teens.

Franceâs Bassa Mawem has pulled out of the sport climbing final at the Tokyo Olympics after rupturing a tendon in his left biceps during qualifying.
Mawem was injured during the final of three disciplines while reaching up with his left arm near the bottom of the lead wall. He immediately fell off the wall and stood at the bottom holding his biceps as an official untied his rope.

The Olympic debut of skateboarding is quickly becoming an all-Japanese affair.
Making it three gold medals from three events, with just one more left to go, Sakura Yosozumi led a Japanese 1-2 in the women s park event on Wednesday, solidifying the host country s dominance in the sport s Olympic debut.
Kokona Hiraki took silver and, at 12 years old, became Japan s youngest ever Olympic medalist. Sky Brown, already a skating superstar at 13, prevented a Japanese medal sweep by taking the bronze, making her the youngest person to win a medal for Britain at the Olympics.

Mawem still managed to join his brother in qualifying for the finals after finishing first in boulder and 18th in speed.
The French Olympic Committee said Mawem is returning home to have surgery.
