Rice County Health Department Director Says Get Vaccinated Rice County Public Health Department Director Deb Purfeerst told KDHL AM Minnesota listeners today getting vaccinated is the way to get back to normal. Purfeerst shared the Rice County vaccination numbers.  16+ one dose 61% vaccinated.  65+ is 95.7%.  Ages 50 to 64 is 71.1%. Purfeerst emphasized anyone can get vaccinated now with plenty of vaccine available. She stated, The vaccines are effective at preventing COVID-19 diseas.  In particular severe illness and death and they also reduce the risk of people spreading COVID-19.  We continue to encourage people to get vaccinated or if they have just received their first dose of Moderna or Pfizer and haven t received the second dose yet now is the time to get the second vaccine.   So they are fully vaccinated and protected.

COVID Vaccine Clinics Coming to Morristown & Lonsdale Rice County Public Health announced today they are hosting a COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic Wednesday, May 19th 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Lonsdale American Legion. A Vaccination Clinic in Morristown Tuesday, May 18th from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. is at the Community Center. The following News Release announcing the Lonsdale clinic was released. Vaccine available for those 12 years and older. Openings available. Rice County Public Health is offering a COVID-19 vaccination clinic Wednesday, May 19th at the American Legion,115 2nd Avenue NW, Lonsdale MN. Pfizer vaccine will be available, which was recently authorized for use by the FDA in adolescents ages 12 through 15 years old. Previously the vaccine had been authorized for those ages 16 years and older.  Adolescents under 18 years old must be pre-registered with parent permission and it is strongly preferred that they be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Rice County Public Health Adds Vaccination Clinic for Youth The Rice County Public Health Department has announced hosting a Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic for anyone 16 years and older. The clinic will be at Faribault High School Tuesday, May 11, 2021.  Entrance for the cliinic will be Door 3 on the east side of the building. In a News Release officials say, This is a great opportunity for parents to get their 16 and 17 year olds vaccinated if they have not been vaccinated already. Appointments between 2:30p.m.and 3:30 p.m. are reserved for Faribault High School and Faribault Alternative Learning Center students ages16 years and older. Students under 18 years old coming at this time must be pre-registered with parent/guardian consent.
