With at least a quarter of Arizona residents fully vaccinated and over a third with one shot, state-run vaccination sites will begin taking walk-ins.
Dr. Cara Christ, Arizona Department of Health Services director, says two sites have already begun doing this as demand for the vaccine slows.
“The University of Arizona and Yuma, those two PODS, we ve seen a significant decrease. So they are going to start looking at taking in walk-ins, just letting people come in and get the vaccine whenever they are available, not based on an appointment, Christ said.

Arizona Department of Health Services officials said the number of virus-related hospitalizations continued to range between 500 and 600 since late March.
There were 555 coronavirus-related hospitalizations as of Sunday, keeping that metric in the same range where it has been for the past few weeks.

Pima County, which reported 115 new cases today, has seen 114,294 of the state’s 854,453 confirmed cases. With no new deaths reported this morning, a total of 17,153 Arizonans have died after contracting COVID-19, including 2.381 deaths in Pima County, according to the April 19 report.
PHOENIX Health officials in Arizona on Sunday reported 711 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and two additional deaths.
The state’s coronavirus dashboard listed pandemic totals of 853,761 cases and 17,153 deaths.
The dashboard also shows that over 4.4 million vaccine doses have been administered in the state.
More than 2.6 million people 37.4% of Arizona’s population have received at least one shot and over 1.8 million people now are fully vaccinated.
