AZDHS: Masks should be worn indoors, in classrooms amid Delta variant-fueled COVID-19 surge
AZDHS agrees with CDC guidelines for all to wear masks indoors, in schools as COVID-19 surges again
Arizona s Department of Health Services agrees with the CDC that anyone in an indoor or school setting should be wearing a mask, regarding if they are vaccinated or not, as COVID-19 numbers begin to surge.
PHOENIX - Arizona s Department of Health Services says masks should be worn indoors by vaccinated and unvaccinated people, including at K-12 schools, after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
The CDC changed its mask guidelines Tuesday for people who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, citing new information about the ability of the delta variant to spread by those who have been vaccinated.

Federal health officials are recommending people wear masks indoors in counties with higher COVID-19 transmission rates and that all people wear face masks in schools, regardless of vaccination status and community transmission.
State health officials say they will update Arizona health guidelines as well.
Seven Arizona counties are reported to have high COVID-19 transmission rates, and six have substantial rates, according to state data.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday in parts of the country where the COVID-19 virus is surging, people should resume wearing masks, even if they are vaccinated.
The CDC recommended unvaccinated people get vaccinated and wear face masks until they do.
PHOENIX, AZ On Tuesday, Governor Doug Ducey appeared to push back against the latest version of the ever-changing guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention which is now calling for mask wearing by the vaccinated and unvaccinated alike.
“Arizona does not allow mask mandates, vaccine mandates, vaccine passports or discrimination in schools based on who is or isn’t vaccinated. We’ve passed all of this into law, and it will not change,” said Ducey.
Ducey called the CDC’s reversal “just another example of the Biden-Harris administration’s inability to effectively confront the COVID-19 pandemic.”
However, an agency under the governor’s control, the Arizona Department of Health Services, says it will be recommending the non-scientific-based CDC guidelines recommending the use of masks indoors in areas of high or substantial transmission, as well as masking for everyone in K-12 schools.
