Apr. 8 After almost 30 years of growing the world s longest fingernails by a female, Ayanna Williams has finally filed them down to history.
Williams had her nails, which measured more than 24 feet combined, removed recently at a Fort Worth dermatologist.
Williams, 62, had been the active Guinness World Records holder for longest fingernails by a female since 2017. She stopped cutting her nails in the early 1990s.
The Houston native, however, was struggling to execute routine tasks such as doing the dishes and make the bed. Not to mention the hours it took to paint her nails and the three to four bottles of nail polish it took each time.

A Welsh man is trying to find two men who helped him return home from Australia in 1965 by packing him up and mailing him in a crate. When Brian Robson, then 19, became homesick he was unable to afford the airfare home. He claims he came up with a “stupid” plan to buy a small wooden crate and have himself sent as freight. The flight to the UK was full so he was transferred to a flight to the US where he was spotted and questioned by the FBI before being allowed home to Wales. He said the whole experience was “quite horrific”.
Imagine growing your nails from the 1990s, and only cutting them now in 2021.
Over three decades ago, Ayanna Williams, a resident of Forth Worth, Texas, started to grow her fingernails out of sheer intrigue and preference.
In one fell swoop over the weekend, however, the woman holding the Guinness Book of World Records longest fingernails on a pair of hands (female) took them under the knife.
In 2017, Williams was confirmed to have the longest nails grown by a woman, measuring at 19 feet long. Up until the big snip, her nails measured at 733.55 cm (24 ft 0.7 in).
A trip to the manicurist would take her nail technicians more than two bottles of nail polish and over 20 hours to complete.
