Argentina President Alberto Fernandez on Friday announced the South American country would begin producing the Russian Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine following a virtual meeting with his counterpart Vladimir Putin.
RIO DE JANEIRO BRAZIL – South American soccer’s governing body said on Wednesday it has asked Argentina to host the entire 2021 Copa America tournament after it removed Colombia as co-host last week because of ongoing civil unrest.
The June 13 to July 10 tournament, delayed a year by the Covid-19 pandemic, had been due to be jointly hosted for the first time its 105-year history, with matches split between Colombia and Argentina.

The South American Confederation (CONMEBOL) had previously decided to move games in continental club competitions out of Colombia due to the protests, while those that went ahead saw players affected by tear gas fired outside stadiums.

BOGOTA (AFP) – The Copa America will be played “with or without fans”, regardless of COVID-19, Colombia’s sports minister said shortly after less optimistic comments from the president of co-host Argentina.
“The Copa America is still as planned from the start: Argentina and Colombia,” Ernesto Lucena told
El Tiempo newspaper on Thursday.
“The analysis of the president of Argentina is relevant,” continued Lucena, who is recovering from COVID-19, before saying that the President of CONMEBOL, South American football’s governing body “has repeated: the Copa will be held with or without an audience.”
Earlier on Thursday, Argentina President Alberto Fernandez said the pandemic cast doubt over the Copa.
