DUBAI, 13th June, 2021 (WAM) The Emirates Literature Foundation’s search for the nation’s best young story writers has begun, with the launch of its annual creative writing competition for students, the Story Writing Competition. A fixture on the academic calendar, the competition runs in Arabic and in English and is open to full-time students in schools, colleges and universities in the GCC. It is divided into age-specific categories: 11 and under, 12-14, 15-17 and 18-25. The winners will be honoured in a special ceremony.

Emirates Literature Foundation launches reading challenge to celebrate Month of Reading Mon 01st March 2021 | 08:15 PM DUBAI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 01st Mar, 2021) The Emirates Literature Foundation has announced the launch of a reading challenge open to everyone in the UAE, in celebration of the Month of Reading. There are two categories, individual and family, and entries can be in either Arabic or English. To enter, people simply have to read as many books as they can in one month and share the list of books with a one-line review for each. The family category draws on the theme for this year’s Month of Reading, #MyFamilyReads, which focuses on enhancing the parents’ role in instilling a love of reading in children and raising a generation passionate about reading and knowledge. All books recorded in the Family category should be read to or with the same child, but the adults can change.

SHARE A pet lion, an injured horse and a lost baby gazelle are among the characters featured in the new children’s book penned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai. Entitled My Little World, the book is a collection of five illustrated short stories that are based on the early life experiences of the Dubai ruler. The book, which is available in English and Arabic, was launched last month and had its release celebrated at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature on Friday, February 5.
