Find out in this seasonâs first Third Thursday event, a virtual Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) activity.
The interactive STEM activity, dubbed Camp GD, is part of a monthly partnership between the cityâs Office of Cultural Development and General Dynamics Mission Systems, according to a statement released Tuesday morning. The demonstrations will be held, virtually, every month throughout the Third Thursday season, kicking off on May 20.
The demonstrations range from building balloon rockets to roasting sâmores with a solar oven. Kits with the needed materials for the first interactive demonstration will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 a.m. to noon May 15 at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts.

Immaculata to open STEM Discovery Lab next year
Immaculata School has kicked off a major capital project that will include a Science Technology Engineering and Math Discovery Lab.
Nearly $50,000 of the $100,000 required to receive a grant of up to $1.9 million from Shea Homes has already been raised by the school, according to Principal Margaret Beale.
The Discovery Lab will have a Maker Space Patio and is slated to open in 2022 for use by pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students in the region.
“The new STEM Discovery Lab will be a dedicated space for hands-on, inquiry-based learning,” Beale said, in a news release. “Students will work together to fine-tune their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. As teachers guide their class through project-based learning, students will become masters of their education and take ownership of their learning.
