Wheeler High School is one of only 13 Georgia public schools to recently earn the College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science A (CSA) and/or AP Computer Science Principles (CSP). Schools honored with the AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award have expanded girls access to AP computer science courses.

Out of 20,000 institutions that offer AP courses, Wheeler is among 1,119 to achieve either 50% or higher female representation in one of the two AP computer science courses or a percentage of the female computer science examinees meeting or exceeding that of the school s female population during the 2019-2020 school year. Wheeler earned the award for AP Computer Science Principles.

Routt Catholic High School has earned the College Board AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in its Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles class.
“During an unprecedented year, our female students have demonstrated perseverance and dedication in their study of AP Computer Science,” Routt principal Nick Roscetti said. “We could not be more proud of them for staking their claim as the next generation of STEM and computer science professionals. We can’t wait to see their passion for next-generation technology lead to lifelong success.”

Closing the gender gap in computer science classes is a goal at Sandy Creek High School, and one that has earned the school national recognition for the number of female students enrolled in a specific Advanced Placement (AP) computer science course.

BAY RIDGE Fontbonne Hall, The Lab School for Girls, has earned the College Board’s 2020 AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award for expanding young women’s access to Advanced Placement (AP) Computer Science Principles (CSP). Fontbonne was one of 831 schools to be nationally recognized for this achievement.
This honor also acknowledges the work Fontbonne is doing to engage more students in computer science and to close the gender gap. According to the National Girls Collaborative Project, women only earn 18% of computer science bachelor’s degrees and account for 28% of the science and engineering workforce.
