HARRISON, NY Harrison High School now has a local chapter of Young Americans For Freedom, and the national organization is celebrating.
Luke Wong, now a junior, spent two years trying to get a club started, working with YAF and the national Alliance Defending Freedom.
YAF officials said ADF lawyers sent a letter to school board President Kelly Mangan in June saying Harrison High s failure to recognize YAF is blatantly illegal under the Equal Access Act and First Amendment, both of which guarantee YAF s right to equal footing with the other student clubs in Harrison School District.

WILL COUNTY, IL The Will County Board is being proactive about the environment as it finds ways to convert methane gas produced at the Prairie View Landfill in Wilmington into compressed natural gas.
The board voted Thursday to select SCS Energy to design and build a plant to convert the methane to renewable natural gas. Harbour Contractors from Plainfield will lead the construction piece of this project. Currently, some methane gas is converted into electricity at the landfill with the remainder being burned off.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN Bed-Stuy s Campaign Against Hunger got a $125,000 boost this week thanks to a new grant from the Brooklyn Communities Collaborative, the organization announced.
The neighborhood food pantry was among seven nonprofits that received part of BCC s Strong Communities Fund, which is aimed at helping Brooklyn and New York City as a whole recover from the coronavirus crisis.
The Campaign Against Hunger which has played an integral role in addressing unprecedented food insecurity since the start of the pandemic was given the largest slice of the $338,000 in funding. BCC has committed to giving out $3 million total to help with pandemic relief.

MILWAUKEE, WI – The county district attorney s office has issued criminal charges against a Milwaukee man in connection to a fatal accident that resulted in the death of Marquette University Dean Joseph Daniels.
Jordan Jones has been charged with one count of hit and run resulting in death and one count of knowingly operating a motor vehicle while suspended causing death.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020 around 8:11 p.m. along the 1000 block of W. Wisconsin Avenue.

Daniels, 60, was pronounced dead at Froedtert Hospital following the hit-and-run.

FRANKFORT, IL Public health officials lifted some coronavirus restrictions in Will County Thursday, meaning Frankfort has moved to the least restrictive of the state s three tiers of COVID-19 resurgence mitigation measures.
The Illinois Department of Public Health said in a release that Region 7, which includes Will and Kankakee counties, will be moving from Tier 3 to Tier 1. This change means that restaurants and bars in Will County can reopen for indoor dining at 25 percent capacity. In addition, all bar and restaurant guests should be seated at tables. Ordering, seating and congregating at bars is prohibited and bar stools should be removed. Tables must also be six feet apart, under Tier 1 mitigation measures.
